A terrific color reference book is PANTONE®
Guide to Communicating with Color by Leatrice Eiseman. I've
used her book for inspiration for color schemes and palettes over
and over again.

Permission
Marketing changed the way people look at marketing. It's
no longer about trying to compete for the attention of the same
audience that everyone else is.. but rather it is about "Turning
Strangers into Friends, And Friends into Customers". This is
a smart marketing read...

I've heard quite a buzz about this book by Jeffrey Veen called
"The
Art & Science of Web Design". Veen is one of the
creators of HotWired.com.
Topics covered: tech history, interface consistency, site structure,
interactivity, browsers, performance, web advertising & database-driven
content. Worth getting if you manage your own online business presence.

This book and finding it an excellent resource, especially for those
in transition personally, in their career, etc. Besides, who doesn't
want to whistle
while you work?

If you are looking for a book to give you the ultimate primer on
design basics... then look no further than Design
Basics by David A. Lauer and Stephen Pentak. This book is
comprehensive and you will have a professional level understanding
of design principles when you've finished. It is no longer sold
in the soft-bound version I have... and has become a textbook. That
makes it more expensive - but usually you can find some for sale
that are used. The book is worth the money!

Beginning Active Server Pages is a book that was recommended
alongside of a class that we are taking on Beginning ASP on Barnes
& Noble University. It's a great class and a good book for beginners
to intermediate ASP users/learners. Give it a whirl if you have
been wanted to add to your ASP skills.
